Storm Water Management Model (SWMM)

As a research scientist at the National Center for Infrastructure Modeling and Management we are developing a new computational engine that will work with the EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM). The goals of the new engine are: (i) to eliminate long-standing issues associated with mass conservation and convergence for full pipe flow, (ii) introduce a finite-volume formulation that supports subdividing of pipes and channels for consistent solutions over a range of scales, and (iii) allow effective parallelization of the solver for rapid solutions on multi-processor desktop computers as well as cloud computing. Fortran coarrays are being used for paralleling the engine.
